Cloba 5 mg Tablet is used to treat epilepsy (fits) and severe anxiety over a short period. Also, Cloba 5 mg Tablet is used in combination with other medicines to treat schizophrenia (a mental illness). Epilepsy (fits) is a disorder in which there is a sudden, uncontrolled disturbance in the electrical activity of nerve cells in the brain. Anxiety is a mental health disorder associated with fear, worry and excessive nervousness. Schizophrenia is a mental disorder that affects the ability of a person to feel, think and behave clearly.
Cloba 5 mg Tablet works by increasing the release of GABA (a chemical messenger that acts as a nerve-calming agent) in the brain by acting on GABA receptors. Thereby, Cloba 5 mg Tablet prevents fits by stabilizing the electrical activity of nerve cells in the brain. Also, Cloba 5 mg Tablet calms nerve cells and helps in reducing anxiety and induces sleep.
Take Cloba 5 mg Tablet as prescribed. Your doctor will advise how often you take Cloba 5 mg Tablet based on your medical condition. Some people may experience restlessness, irritability, drowsiness, constipation, aggressive behaviour, tiredness or breathing problems. Most of these side effects of Cloba 5 mg Tablet do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.
If you are known to be allergic to Cloba 5 mg Tablet or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. Cloba 5 mg Tablet is not recommended for children below 6 years of age. Do not take Cloba 5 mg Tablet if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, as it may cause adverse effects on the baby. Cloba 5 mg Tablet should be used with caution in elderly patients above 65 years as there is an increased risk of adverse reactions such as dizziness, muscle weakness and drowsiness. Avoid taking Cloba 5 mg Tablet if you have myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness), sleep apnoea (breathing stops and starts repeatedly), breathing or liver problems. Do not take Cloba 5 mg Tablet with opioids as it may cause breathing problems, drowsiness, coma and even death.
